Group Ice Rentals:
We offer our ice house for rental to non-member groups, team building events, and group ‘learn to curl’ sessions.
Fee for group events:
We charge a small fee of $25/per person, minimum of $500 (20 persons)
How many people can we have in a group?
The Poynette curling club has two sheets of ice. We recommend about 8-10 participants per sheet meaning groups should be no more than 20 people (plus instructors).
What Times Are Available?
Mid September-Mid March
- Due to leagues and events, most weekday rentals need to be completed by 2pm
- Most weekends, all day*
*times are very dependant on availability of instructors and club events
What is included in a rental?
- Four hours of club rental, including two hours of on ice time
- Ice will be prepped before you arrive
- Club brooms and sliders provided for use
- Depending on size of group, minimum of one club member will make the facility available and assist with “Learn to Curl”
- Formal lessons/instruction can also be available (please inquire)
- Food/beverages can be carried in or ordered from local restaurants (full kitchen appliances are also available)
- Tables/chairs/couches/TV available
What do I need to know before my group arrives?
- FOOTWEAR: If you don’t have curling shoes, bring a clean pair of tennis shoes with a rubber sole. Absolutely no snow boots and leather soles will not work well. We also suggest shoes that allow ankle flexibility (no high tops).
Note: Do not wear the shoes to the curling club, bring them separately and change when you get there. - CLOTHING: Wear loose fitting or stretchy clothing (remove any hair or lint beforehand). We advise against jeans.
- TEMPERATURE: The ice house is around 35 degrees, so wear layers (sweatshirt, stocking hat, gloves etc.) You can always take off a layer if needed.
- EQUIPMENT: The club has a supply of brooms and sliders for your rental.
Sliding devices/stabilizers are also available to help you deliver the rocks. - SCHEDULE: You should arrive about 20 minutes before your start time. It will take a few minutes to ensure each person is ready to get on the ice.
Responsibilities of the renter:
Please keep in mind the curling club is a second home to many throughout the majority of the year. We also do not have a single paid position within the club, everything is run by volunteers. We ask for an abundance of respect if you rent out our spaces.
If you rent a space, you will be expected to:
- Clean up any spaces you use (wipe counters and tables, sweep floors, wash dishes, etc.)
- Turn off lights after use
- Put things back where you found them
- Take out the trash if you fill it up
Who do I contact to set up an ice rental?
Please email info@poynettecurlingclub,com with the following information:
- Name, contact phone and email address
- Desired times of the rental (days and times)- please contact us at least 2 weeks before your desired time
- How many attendees do you expect?
